Museum of Illusions: A New World-Famous Attraction Opens in Johannesburg

Everyone is talking about the Museum of Illusions, a brand new mind-bending attraction at the Zone @ Rosebank Mall, opening this Saturday, 6 July 2024.

The Museum of Illusions is home to a wide range of playful exhibitions, eye-catching visual experiences, educational displays, and optical illusions that change with perspective or trick your eyes.

Johannesburg is the first South African city to welcome this immersive experience. The concept started in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2015 and has since expanded worldwide to over 50 cities such as Dubai, Chicago, New York, Paris, Istanbul, Shanghai, Cairo, Kuala Lumpur and Dallas. The best part? They’re open daily from 9am to 9pm and situated at a convenient location, right above Hamleys and across the bridge from Spur in The Zone @ Rosebank location, making the museum a great fit for family outings, parties and celebrations with a party room, and date nights alike. Here’s what you need to know about this brand-new attraction in Johannesburg.

As a champion of the “edutainment concept,” the Museum of Illusions is merging fun and entertainment with education and learning and a dash of tech. There are over 60 extraordinary exhibits that use optical illusions, visual tricks, and hands-on interactive displays to create a playful environment, nothing is ever quite as it seems.

Let loose in the Illusion Rooms with intriguing visual, sensory, and a never-before-seen educational experience. There’s no shortage of quirky installations where you can hang out with your clones, swap noses with your friends, and serve your head on a platter. And the image display tricks will make you rethink vision, perception, and the mysterious workings of the human brain. Whether you’re up for a one-of-a-kind adventure for your next date outing, something different to try with the kids, or simply looking to capture some Instagrammable moments, this museum in Johannesburg has something that will entertain visitors of all ages.
